Sassafras Tree Artisans has long been a dream for me. As a doll maker and quilter I sold my work in the many different places I have traveled with my husband while he was in the Navy. For years as a mostly stay at home mother, creating and selling my work was a easy, fun way to make a little extra money. I also taught classes in the 15 years before we opened Sassafras in Northwood. I attended over 20 craft shows a year to sell my works, while working full time as an Ed Tech at an elementary school. The move to New Hampshire prompted many changes in our lives. An old barn connected to our 200 year old home was already being used to sell pottery. It seemed only natural to create a country gift shop in it. Many renovations were needed to enable us to be open year round.
Since those early days in 2001 we have opened many more rooms, each stocked with a mix of local handmade crafts, work from artists across the country and a few select items from overseas. These all blend to create a warm country look.
Hours of Operation are Wednesday through Sunday 10am to 5Pm.
